well, my head is about swolen from reading all the threads about tires, and what people like and dislike, etc. read all the reviews, but with all that info, no one was looking for the same characteristics of a tire that i am.
i dont drive very hard, so im not all that performance oriented. but i would like a little grip for if i do take a hard turn, etc. but id also like limited road noise and something that wont wear quickly. im needing 225/35/19 so id think id also need something with a stiffer sidewall to try and prevent rim dentage.
heres what ive been looking at so fare, but havent a clue which fits these characteristics. thanks in advance for any help
Falken Azenis St115
Dunlop Sp Sport Fm901
Toyo Proxes Fz4
Toyo Proxes 4
Fuzion ZRi
Kumho ECSTA SPT
actually, strike that, i think im goin 18, so 225/40/18
but either way, lol
Falken ZE-512's
they are grippy and great in the wet
just dont use in the snow, not so good
and the treadwear is like 360 which is higher than most other performance tires that ive looked at
bfg g-force sport i love them!!!!!
Out of your choices, the Falken Azenis would be my top pick followed by Dunlops.

I agree, go with the falkens. Thats what I decided to get.
i read in a few posts that the Falkens and especially the Dunlops wear pretty quick....anyone know if this is tru?
^^^hmmm, interesting. what kinda price do those run??
anyone else with input?? even if the tire isnt listed up top??
I have the ones that marin8er mentioned, the Falken Ziex Ze-512. they've been good so far, and the treadwear is like 360.
there's 3 basic characteristics you wanna look for:
treadwear: the higher the number, the longer it takes for the tread to wear. usually high performance tires will have a low treadwear number, because of the softer compound used to create a "sticky" tire. my tires are 360 which is good, considering it's a Z rated tire.
temperature: there's A, B and C. A being the best. I go with at least an A, because I live in Phoenix
traction: AA, A, B and I think C. AA is the best.
then, there's how much you have to spend.

I have the fuzion Zri's ive beat the piss out of them, auto x in them, drag raced in them, taken curves at 90 literally beat the piss out of them and they are still full of life. they plant real well and i will get them again once these wear out, i got mine for like 460 for all 4 mounted balanced put on, lugs, 3mm spacers and all the goodies.
Well these aren't on your list either, but I just got them on Sunday.
General Exclaim UHP
I had personally never heard of the brand before. But after comparing the ratings and specs I figured they were the best bang for the buck I could get. Very nice tires so far, had very good reviews on Tire Rack's website. Tread Wear Rating is 380, and the grip is very nice. Very comfortable tire, very little road noise, I love them.

The Falken st115 have a 340 or 360 treadwear iirc, you should get 30-35k out of them and the dunlops 15-25k. You can't expect a very sticky summer tire to last a long time, more so if you beat on them.
