I have a 01 Z24. Just bought 225/40/18 Exel F-5's. My front wheels i cant get the center cap to go on because the axel sticks out too far. The rears are fine. Why would this be?
mine are the same way... i dont know what the problem with it is. ive been thinking about taking a grinder to it so they fit on.
Check out my build thread!
^^ I've heard that others do the same.
If i go about and saw them off....will this affect putting on the stock wheels. I have snow tires on them.
Also wouldnt wheel spacers do the trick?
I don't think it will affect your stock wheels, but don't take my word for it. I wouldn't use spacers, they will affect the offset of your wheel and why pay for something you don't need?
yea i have this same problem too...really ticks me off...to give everyone a better idea this is what it looks like....(red arrow)....anyone know of an easy solution with grinding sh*t haha (o and sorry for the big pic)
Well tomorrow im going to call wheelmax and find out what my options are.
my adr's were the same on my 2nd gen, so i took a dremel and cut the thing off

Good luck with wheelmax! the basterds....
just cut a chunk off of the axle, I did it to both my cavs, it should have no negative effects on ur car.
I have to worry bout inspection though.
if get spacers all you have to do is get your alignment checked
if you start choping and cutting well take your own risks
Well the cost of spares arent worth it to me. Id send the wheels back before id buy them unless they were dirt cheap.
well thank god im not the only one with this problem... i figured it was my crappy luck mixed with my crappy car. a grinder will do the trick and wont affect anything negatively.

I will cut mine as long as it passes inspection. Or if i can get some spacers for cheap ill go that route.
buy spacers, had to do the same thing with my wifes eclipse, I would spend the 10 bucks before I would grind on stuff
just cut it off, we used a cut off tool and got rid of it. it wont hurt anythign at all. i ran about 100K miles with mine cut off so it wont hurt anything at all.
yea, save ur money and just cut it off, its alot safer than using spacers
I would have no problem cutting them but since no one knows for sure if this would pass inspection i must go the safer route.
you will have hub caps covering it so they wont be able to see it. i dont have to get my car inspected but i doubt they will say anything since its sticking out and you wont see it. its like shortening your exhaust, you cant see it and if its not loud you wont notice as long as it works.
tell me what is so *unsafe* about spacers, they are like 3-5 mm thick, like the size of a washer, DOT approved, precision cut for perfect balance, and used for years. Not like the homeboys puttin stress on thier studs with 12 in deep dish wheels that stick out a foot past the wheel well, just not convinced that they are unsafe. Not to mention, if you get crazy and ruin the threads by cutting, you could have more of a headache down the road! Just my 2 cents, take it or leave it I guess
I went ahead and bought spacers, will let ya know how it worked out.
