cleaning products for polished lips on rims

Just got my rims on today and I was wondering what kind of products you use on your polished lip rims that wont hurt the finish? The tire shop guys left some slight marks on my lip (not on the edge but the bowl part) that I would like to try and get rid of. There not to noticeable but would like to try and get them back to perfect. should I try and use like a wax? like meguiars swirl remover? Or a medal polish from a auto store?

Any advise would be appriciated.

I tried cleaning up the lip with my soft baby diaper cloth's but the marks are still there. Can someone recommend a cleaner/polish?

I always used Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish on my 18's. Always made them look really good and got rid of any marks.

I used baby diapers to apply and wipe off the polish. I had a set of ADR wheels that had a nice polished lip on them, and thats all i used the polish on.

If the lip is polished and has no coating, you can use most any type of metal polish that works on aluminum. However, some wheels have a clear coat sprayed over the polished aluminum to protect the finish. In that case, you could use a light rubbing compound or a swirl mark remover. In either case, you would want to finish up with a good coat of carnauba wax.

So how can I tell if it has the clear coat? Is there a general safe cleaner/polish? Maybe I should try some swirl removal and then hit the lip up with some carnauba.

Well I just talked to IKON wheels. They said to ONLY use Soap and water on them. B/c they do have a clear coat on the lip.

He said to hit them with some carnuaba if I wanted to after washing with soap and water. But soap and water should get them real clean

He suggested using only baby diaper or microfiber cloth which I have so that is good. He said if I used anything else that they clear could start to chip or come off and would void warranty on my brand new wheels I just got put on my car yesterday.

ive been using Eagle One NANO polish, it seems to work good, the clear is peeling on mine on the lip already from using some spay wheel cleaner that was supposed to be safe for all wheels....

but yeah i was told after i get my wheels reman'd to use mild soap and water and a good quality carnuba wax and thats it.

ahh its no biggie the wheels are pretty old i bought them from Mike ( hotsaus_2k1 ) and thay have some curb rash on them anyway so the cleaner i used probably got und the clear from the curb rash and started making it peel.
they needed to be redone or replaced anyways, lol

I herd the mothers ball isnt that good. I'm sure there are some detailers on the site here who may say different but my buddy said it isnt very good. I guess it would all depend on the style of wheel i guess.

Im still looking for a good wax/cleaner to get my wheels clean. I washed them with soap/water the other day and rinsed them off good. Then hit them with some Meguiars #26 Hi-Tech Yellow Carnuba wax but some of the spots are still there on the rims. I'm wondering if I should hit them with the #9 Swirl remover (minor polish as far as I know) then hit them again with the #26. Im just scared b/c of the finish on the rims you know. Damm clear coat coating.

I use luster pad and then wipe off with a polishing cloth...

Luster pad?

Well yesterday I hit the lips with the swirl remover(states clear coat safe on the bottle) then with the #26 (clear coat safe again) and there almost flawless. Only a few minute traces of any kind of water spots on the lips now. Hopefully with the coat of wax on there now, water drops will no longer stick to the lips for a while now.
