What exactly is wrong with these? I know it's around the boards, but I just want to get some new opinions etc. Do they really look that bad? Do they effect your odo and spedo that much? Reason is I want to buy some rims off Wheelsnext and they only offer those tires. Does anyone else have any good sites for rims? I guess I could buy the tires seperate, but the deals on Wheelsnext just seem really good. Also, if I were to go up to 18's instead of 17's, are the 225/40s ok? Thanks fellas.

Thanks. Do you have any good pics of them on a Sunfire?

And what brand are the tires that wheelsnext ships out?

Thanks T2!!!! Mine are 205/40/17's and they are fine. As long as its lowered! If it isn't dropped they look goofy. The speedo is only off by 4 mph ( in mine), so its not bad. I bought mine from wheelmax.com a long time ago, they were a good company when I bought mine, I couldn't tell you how they are now.

Its about 1.5 inches smaller in overall height than stock and will cause your speedo to read 64 when you are actually going 60. It will also result in your engine turning higher RPMs than stock at any given speed by a factor of about 1.06. Gas mileage and performance will be affected to a small degree. And they are small...seems most people here are trying to fill up their wheel wells. But to each his own.

Thanks guys.

So does anyone know what tires Wheelsnext packages?
I'm sure someone here has bought from them.

Would I still experience the spedo, RPM, etc. issues if I bought a lowering kit for the car?

Speaking of, how much do they usually cost? Good places to buy? Thanks again fellas.

Lowering has nothing to do with the adverse effects encountered when using tire/wheel combinations that result in substantially different overall heights from stock. Lowering your car will only serve to reduce the "smallish" appearance of the small tire by effectively pulling it up into the wheel well. With the standard suspension, the small size of the tire would be more noticeable. A 205/50/R17 or a 215/45/R17 (if available) would be a better match for your car.

Which would you recommend, 205/50 or 215/45?

The 215 is 5% wider than the 205. 215/45/R17 would probably be my choice. However, certain tire sizes are not always available with regard to any particular tire brand and model. If you're buying new wheels and tires, you may want to consider 18's as well. A good match for 18's is 215/40/R18. Lots of choices. Get what you want but I would recommend you stay pretty close to the overall stock height of approximately 24.9 inches.

wow the lack of information in this thread. listen to lee since he seems to be like the only one that knows what he is talking about.

205/40/17 is too small period. it looks goofy and @!#$ up everything on the car. not worth putting on imo. for 17s you want either 215/45/17 or 225/45/17. 205/50/17 would work also. 215/50/17 is too tall

Thanks for all the info guys.

@BaggedCav - Do you think it would be worth the extra $200 for 18's?
Also, if I were to get 18's I was considering 225/40/18, would that be a good tire?

Also I'm looking at some ADR's and Drags...are these good brands?

Heres what I like so far:

i heard good on drags and i have adrs and love them. if you spend the 200 extra bucks does that include tires? if so i would say do it for the fact that the rims you picked out have a lip on them and the lip makes the rim actually look a rim size smaller.

if you get 18s you want 225/40/18

To add because it is a thinner tire the ride will be a little harsher. IF you get the right sized the tire will have more protection for the time and more area for comfort.

I think I'm going with 18's. Bagged, they come with tires also for $200 more and they are 225/40/18's...so that should be great right?

Thanks.

Here is the email I got from WheelsNext about different tires for you guys that might be wondering:

Different tires are available on the wheel and tire packages. For example Nankang, Nexen, Ventus, Goodyear and Kumho. You can also upgrade the tires to Toyo, Nitto or Falken for only $150 additional to your package.

i've always been told that when you go up in size you come down in series...example factory z wheel is 205/55/16...go up to a 17" and you get 215/45/17...now when you go 18's you wanna go 225/40/18 that way you stay as close to the factory specs as possible

Ventus is made by Hankook, and I'm on my second set of HR 2's 215/50/17 and can't complain about their performance. If you're interested, I have a set of Hankook K106 215/45/17's for sale. My only real problem with them is that they are not all season.
