Are outer wheel weights really necessary?

Well, since I can't find any aftermarket wheels I like that will fit the car properly , I have decided to keep the stock wheels. I want to "clean" them up a bit though by removing the outer wheel weights. I was wondering if this will affect anything in a negative way? Also, what would be the best way to remove them? Can I do it myself or should I let a professional tire shop do it? Thanks in advance.

ummmm, are you serious? those wheel weights are there to balance the wheels so your car doesnt shake your car apart.... are they THAT ugly????????

On the other hand....you have other fingers.

you could do stick on weights on the wheels on the inside right behind where the face of the wheel is to balance it just like majority of the aftermarket wheels are done.

take it to a shop and have the wheels rebalanced DYNAMICALLY with stick on wheel weights. on the outside. the inside can be stick ons or clip ons, doesnt matter.

Injection is nice but id rather be BLOWN!

i just have teh wheel shops just put weights on the back only.. since mine are painted i dont want them knickin up the paint and also having a silver block on them. They should be able to rebalance ur wheels but just putting wants on the back of the rim. But dont just go removing them lmao.. cuz u need em.

Stick one weights work fine too(esp for aftermarket rims)

You can static balance a wheel with clamp on weights only on the inner lip. All 3 of my vehicles are that way and I have had all of them up to 90mph+ with no vibration.

take it to a shop say you want them balanced without any weights on the outside. Done.

Should get away for less than $40.00
