Help! Bolt pattern confusion

Here's the deal; I finally found wheels that are a very close match to the factory Pontiac Solstice wheels, Nex-O PX-5s from Wheel Max. The problem is, I want them in 18s, but when I do a wheel search for a 2002 Sunfire no 18" wheels come up. Now here's where the questions start:

Three wheels come up when I do the search for a 2002 Sunfire (15", 16" and 17"). The 15" and 16" wheels' bolt patterns are listed as 5x100 / 5x114.3, but the 17" wheel's bolt pattern is listed as 5x100 only. My question is, does this mean I could get a wheel that has a 114.3 bolt pattern and it would fit properly or no?

Also, if it helps any, when I do a search for a 2002 Grand Am, seven wheels come up (16", 17" and 18"). The bolt pattern on the 16" wheel is listed as 5x100 / 5x114.3, but the rest are listed as 5x114.3 only.

What does it all mean ? I'm so confused *sigh*.

5x100 is the only 1 that will bolt to our cars

the fact some wheels are dual pattern means nothing

actually it means they will fit cars with that other bolt pattern

It also means they will almost certainly NOT be hub-centric.

i thought you wanted 17s.

and though not hub centric they fit jsut fine

and your welcome for helping you make the decision

I may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.

The nexos have a dual bolt pattern, 5x100 is the pattern for jbody cars, while the 5x114.3 fits the grand ams you searched. Most likely the they make the smaller wheels in the dual patterns to reduce costs.

what does that have to do with anything? 99.8% of aftermarket wheels are not hubcentric, unless they are specifically made for a certain car, or are expensive wheels (bmw, hre, etc). thats what rings are for

but yes, ONLY 5x100 will fit.

Grand Am's were 5x100... the latest (third?) gens were 5x115, NOT 114.3. Yes that .7mm makes a VERY big difference. If they were 5x114.3 you would see some sick rear wheel fitments with those massive flares.

My Nippon Racing wheels for my 07 Corolla are hub centric, and they were only $300 for the set.. I know it's a very specific example, but your percentage is not 100% true

It actually depends on the hub bore of the car, Cavlaiers are not hugely popular in the tuner community, and their owners are not (generally -- I know there are many are who are very) well educated on the various aspects of wheels (hub bores, offsets, etc.). A vast majority of wheels are made to fit Honda Civic hub bores, Corolla hub bores, and S-chasis/Z-chasis hubs. The J community is just the minority left to make wheels fit with hub rings

At least most people know about hub rings, I've seen cars come into my shop with out them... mostly customers complaining that we/someone did a horrible job balancing the wheels... ... ...

Hey Carrie, wasn't this discussed last year?

Only reason I remembered was I've been on the search for 18" Solstice style rims since then as well
