My question is, do you need to replace stock struts before attempting to lower your car 1.2 inches or 1.4 inches? Or do you need to replace stock struts with an aftermarket strut no matter what type of drop you do?
Not required, but Stock struts truly are ill-suited to any drop. Many have done it anyways and taken the risks involved, which include unpredictable control and possibility of blowing them out at the wrong time. KYB struts are warrantied to a drop of 1.5". Konis or D-Specs are recommended for lower drops. "Slamming" the car is abusive to any strut, and should be done with air bags.

can you lower on stock struts? yes
is it safe or recommened? no
any type of drop i would up grade. if you lower 1.2" or 1.4" then the perfect strut is kyb agxs. anything past 1.5" will require koni yellows or dspecs. there are other struts out there like tokico hps and kyb gr2s but both are oem replacements and not meant for a drop. if you see dropzone struts, stay far away, they are garbage
Okay, I understand now. It is possible, but not recommended or safe. I will look into those kyb agxs and see what the price is talking about. Thanks guys.
they can be found on ebay for around 360-380 shipped
