I have 205/60/15 inch aftermarket rims on my car now; they are only silver mangles rims, nothing special. I want to get some 17's; right now i have eibach prokit springs(1.4'') drop; going from a 15 inch rim with a taller sidewall(60) and going to a 17 inch rim wich would have a shorter sidewall(40) would i have a bigger wheel well gap when i go to 17's' or would it be the same since i am increseing the rim size; but decreseing the sidewall so they would both cancel each other out and i would have the same wheel gap i have now?????????????
Please help...
Thanks

sorry i meant to say 45 not 40's, i see useing a tire calculator that a 215/45/17 goes on nice and does not throw the speedo off hardly any, 0.5% ithink...

As long as the overall diameter is the same, the gap should be the same as well.
For the same reason the speedo is almost the same, so too will be the overall tire size and wheel gap. The only issue is that a low profile tire tends to emphasize any gap that is there, so it looks more pronounced.

Yes, I know my car is a prime example of "holy gap!". I've got some Sportlines in the trunk, waiting for installation.
Just a quick side-by-side, to show how big wheels make the gap *look* bigger, without actually changing it.
