wheel gap

I have a 04 Cavalier with 16" rims right now, but soon I'm going to put some 19" rims. How much of a gap will I have after putting some 19" rims on the car? Do I lowered the car with lowering springs, coil overs, or shocks & struts before or after I put on the 19" rims on the car? Any opinions will help.

1) bigger rims will not decrease the size of wheel gap. as the rim get bigger the tire size gets smaller to keep the overal diameter the same so it wont throw off your speedo. doing this keeps the wheel gap the same. note though the wheel gap will look bigger because you are going to have a low profile tire on there.

2) you lower your car with whichever you want, springs or coilovers. either one you choose will need new struts with. do not lower on stock struts and do not lower on struts that wont handle to drop. anything up a 1.5" drop use agx struts. anything past that use either koni yellows or tokico dspecs. if you choose to use coilovers then use yellows or dspecs. if your looking for a nice suddle drop get the eibach prokit (1.4" drop) with kyb agx struts. its a very popular set up and a very good one.

3) lower your car before rims, thats just my opinion.

As StrippedCav said, the gap remains constant if you are using the proper tires. Bigger wheels will actually make the gap *seem* worse. This is a side-by-side of my car changed from 15" stockers to 18" Motegi MR7 wheels.

^^ you also have the wrong size tires too which makes it look even worse

About 5% too small, true. Keen eyes may pick that out, if they can get past the huge gap first.
