ok im looking at getting some 17x8 in wheels proper offset and all, now i know the wheels will fit no problem but im wondering if a 235 40 17 would fit with out rubbing. its a 1/2 in shorter over all then stock but its got a 9.2 in width sidewall to sidewall. i have 215 60 15's now and they are 8 in wide and clear alright.
thanks in advance

I'm running a 17x8, +38mm offset rims with 225 45 17's. I have Goldline springs on D-Specs, so it's a 1.7" drop on all corners.
with the Falken Ziex tires that I used to have, I had no rubbing issues. however, the BFG KDW's I have now have a wider shoulder, and they do rub a tiny bit when the steering wheel is turned all the way to the left and right.
it really depends on how much you're lowered, the offset of the rim you're using, shoulder width on the tire, etc. the largest trouble spot that I could see would be the lower spring perch. a set of coilovers like the Teins or the ones from Gravana would help that issue.

alright sounds good i found the combo im going with probably, i have the koni soprt kit i think thats a 1.7 drop all around and going with a 235 45 17 and they are actually like a 1/4 in taller then stock but of course alot wider i guess ill give it a shot and just look around at tire choices to see how the shoulder is

is there a reason why you want a 235 tire?
mainly traction but im thinking i might stick with a 225 instead have to wait and se when it comes ttime to actually buy it all

According to my calculations, on those 18" rims your tires should be 215/40/18 if you want the best and safest fit...your tires section width SW is 8.5" and your section height SH is 3.4" this give your tires an overall diameter OD of 24.8 this will keep your speedo in the correct numbers!

actually the 225/40/18 is the most accurate

thats not true.....the 215/40/18 is the more close to stock than the 225's,however the majority on this site opts for the 225's. because you get a lil beefier tire. i personally have the 215/40/18's ,and i love em, and i've never had a problem with blowouts, potholes etc. either size you should be fine.
