Tire Size

I know there's a tiure section.. but I find posts in the general area get more replies... I want to keep my factory 16" rims on my Sunfire GT. Anyone try fitting a 225/50 tire on there? I am more worried about the width, the different ratio works out to be the same overall diameter, so it won't screw my speedo.

Thank guys.... and to the warning.. how is my question going to be answered if no one sees it? Do you think people go to the wheel and tire section to answer questions? Usually not, people go there to ASK questions about wheel and tires. I got my answer, and thats all I care about now... if you want to move this to the wheel and tire section now, it will be usefull to others with the same question.

Yeah, the chart from the FAQ on getting different sizes disappeared for 205/55/16, I posted there hoping someone has that graphic available.

thanks steve... and was this the answer you were looking for starr? I used to have an excel spreadsheet I made up to first of all caclculate your factory overall wheel diameter, then using that number, I had another section that would calculate the wheel diameter of the new tires. It's long gone, but I could probably make it again. Only thing I worry about is wheel clearance while turning, and the rear axle clearance (axle for the lack of knowing the technical term for it)

Thank you! I like that it compares side-by-side different sizes vs. stock. I used another calc online & it told me one size, but my husband was looking on tirerack.com and it said to use a different size to upsize. The size I wanted to use is closer to stock according to the link you posted.

Yes, some of us avoid the general forum simply because it's nothing but bitchings about buyers/sellers and "I wrecked my car posts".

Now, I'm no forum expert.. but I am fairly sure that there are certain sections of the forum for different areas of questions. Me personally, I come in here all the time to try and answer questions.. if I don't have an answer, I don't post though.

Putting things in the wrong forum purposely to get more answers is not necessary, plenty of people check the tech forums to help other people out. I do often, as well as many others. You just can't be in that huge of a hurry because alot of us have jobs, lives to live.. stuff like that.
