I've got a 2000 z24, I'm looking for new tires. I am running a 225/45/17 right now, I'm looking to add a little more sidewall, to smooth out the ride some. Will a 215/50/17 rub on a stock ride height car? Any help would be appreciated
you wont change the amount of sidewall anyways.... the sidewall height in mm will remain the same for the most part.
if you want more sidewall, get yourself a set of 16" rims.
if you wanta better ride, get a better suspension.

Well said... Don't go adding a taller tire cause you miss the sidewall of your 16's, 15's or 14's. Don't be dumb and add a taller tires to mess up your speedo and other things.
I have the stock 16's, but I've also got my 17's laying around, which I haven't used in years. Figured I'd throw the 17's back on cuz it looks better, but was trying not to sacrifice ride quality too much. Lets face it, it doesn't ride all good to begin with on the 16's. As far as getting better suspension, that's not an option due to the fact this is my winter beater/daily driver and would rather put the money in my toy. Appreciate the advice. i
Well sounds like you should just sell your 17's and keep your money for something eles cause even putting taller tires on your 17's will ride like crap.... period
I was using the same size tire on my Cavalier and it ran like @!#$, the aspec ratio is to high, take this ^ guys advice and get a 16 inch wheel for a better ride, or look in some struts possibly.
Good tire + good suspension... It IS possible, just no one ever believes their J's are worth the cash to begin with...

if your looking for a smoother ride, it doesnt sound like your tires are the problem. sounds like you could do a little better with suspension.
