I am just trying to see what it will look like, I searched and the pictures I could find were not very clear or big enough to get a good look at,
pictures on the car would be great and if you could list the offsets as well, I just don't know what I want and I would like to see this size on a car(front and side pics)
this way I don't have to buy rims and tires and findout they look like crap,
I want a wider tire and I also don't want to drop down in size.
thanks alot in advance to everyone who posts pictures and offsets,
cheers
steve
crap, I didn't look over the topic before I posted, I feel like a dork,
that is supposed to be
Pics
haha
why dont you want to drop the size of the tire down? doing a 235 you would want a 40 series tire so your speedo and everything will stay correct and a 40 series tire has plenty of sidewall to it.
I think 235 is to big for a 7.5 wheel period. I have 225/40/17 on my 8" wide rims, and I think they are perfect for them. I've seen the same size tire on the same rims but only 7" wide and they where rolling over the edge to much for me to like. So if you like a tire rolling over the edge of the rim then go for it, but I like a flat edge on the outside of the rim/tires.
it might be, that is what I am trying to figure out,
I have seen the 225/45's on a 7 inch wheel and it looked ok, I didn't like the tire so I am sure that didn't help,
just wondered about the 235 on the 7.5,
it should be ok for the speedo, the 235/40's would be about 2 % smaller, and 235/45's would be 2 % bigger,
I am starting to think that the 7.5's may be the best with a 225/45r17.
looking at some pics I have found, it looks good, I like the nice flat edge too so I think that may be the route that I take, I am just looking for better pictures with tires(I did do lome looking arround but didn't find a lot that really helped me out to much,
I have seen alot of people with the 235/40r17 on a 7.5 and it looks really good, I just don't want to get tires and then find out that I don't like the look,
make sense.
thanks
steve
I guess the big thing is that I don't want the rims to look smaller than they actually are(and I know what rim I get will change how they look too),
chances are the 235/45 would be ok, but they would be taller and wider and might make it look like a smaller rim.
I have seen alot of 17 with 225/45r17 and they look great(like yours TDR), but I have also seen alot that look like crap.
a friend has some 17 with the 225's I am going to try and borrow to see how they will look, and see how the offset works, I think they are a 7" rim, so the tires look funny, but alot of it is because it has a huge bead protector that sticks out and it looks like crap.
I am thinking of bfg g-force sports, I put a set of a buddies car and it looks great. they were 225/40r18's an a 7.5 rim and they looked really good.
I am still tossed up on 17's or 18's, I would love the look of 18's but I am a little woried about the crappy roads around me and what they might do to the rims, so that 1/2 inch of extra tire might help out a bit.
weather you go 17's or 18's you want 8" wide
btw my sig a 17X8 with a 235
that is part of the problem, alot of the rims I like are 7.5 wide, I think I can get a good deal through a friend that sells car stuff, so I might just get 225/45r17's, or If I really want to spend some cash some 225/40r18 and the rims to go with it, either way, I think I will get 225 now,
that is unless I find a nice set that is 8" wide,
time to start looking around again,
fun fun fun,
I have lots of time to figure it out, its cold and snow on the ground, so not till spring
another thing I was thinking about is what (outside of a bigger rim and a smaller tire) would make a rim look bigger,
I guess what I want to know is will a polished lip look bigger, or a rim with a solid color, I don't really know if it makes a big difference, but some may have a preference.
It may also depend on what the main color is, and if it has a big lip or not
any ideas????
if you get a rim with a lip on it. it will look smaller. the only way to make a rim appear bigger than it is, is to have a small tire on it but i dont recommened it
Not sure if this will help you at all but here are a couple pics of a 235/40/17 tire on 7.5" rims.

I was actually looking at your pictures on here somewhere and I thought that the rims and tires looked really good, the tires don't even look like they are too wide for the rims,
that is why I figured a 235/45r17 should be really nice on the 7.5 wheel, it would be taller, but I can't really imagine it being much wider, or looking bulky.
I don't think I would have problems with it rubbing, but I guess it could,
I think if I stay with a lower offset like in the 40-42 range it should look good, and will likely not rub,
I am waiting to test fit a friends wheels and tires on to see what I think of it.
they are 225/45r17, 7.5 wide rims and I think the offset if 40, when I so this I will get pics and post them, but it will likely be next week sometime I think.
I keep thinking 18's would be nice, but with that much sell of a tire it might get rough, the road can be bad where I live.
