I am curious to see if I will have enough clearance for 235-40-17 on 7.5" wheel with 45MM offset? I am looking at a new set of wheels and possibly running this size tire. If anyone can tell me if this would work that would be great.
2009 Ford Mustang V6
go 225/45 and it will work just fine.

should work just fine a 235/45 17 is just barely bigger then a 215/60 15 in overall height and width and with a mild drop theyd work so id say a 40 series would be just fine
The one, the only, ME.
2465 lbs without me
141 hp @ 6300 (ran out of rpms)
123 ft lbs @ 5200
running lean stock ECU
My new set of 19" Axis Hagens I just bought HAVE 235/35/19 tires on them.
The car they were on was lowered a little bit. There are VERY minor scuffs on the shoulder of the rear tires from rubbing over bumps. Not even on the sidewall, just the top edge of the tread. They are 19x8's with a 35mm offset.
So the 17" 45mm offset and a 235/40 should work just fine. It will howver be slightly bigger than usual. A LOT of tire for that sive wheel.
I wouldn't go 235 on a 7.5"
I have been tossing this up for while too and I have seen some wheels that are 7.5 wide with a 235/40r17 on it and it looked great(forgot who's car it was, black cav with lots of toyo stuff on it, really nice gold rims and bfg g-force kdw tires on them)
but I have started to think that the 225/45r17 will be a better fit for me on a 7.5 wheel, just all about price now I think, and waiting for summer.

your thinking of Skilz (Jeremy)
i ran 235/40/17 on my car but i was +48mm with 3mm spacers all the way around and lowered a lot. Worked fine, no rubbing here.
