What to do with bent rim
Saturday, March 08, 2008 8:59 AM
I recently nailed a 2 ft. long 4x4 at about 70 mph, so needless to say, I now have a spare rim. The worst part is the inner lip is the only part that got hit/bent so I have a perfect-looking Konig Unknown from the front. I was just going to hang it in the shop but I'd like to see some other ideas.

A fabrication shop should be able to bend it back or else do something with it...

I'm already in the process of getting that silver midget...

After using the Search button :gasp: I was under the assumption that even if it bends back without cracking, there will always be a weak spot from the seam. I'm sure it would be okay for smaller bends but mine extended halfway into the rim and left a pretty mean crease.

I've already got a new one(the tire was okay saving me a little over $80) so I'm probably going to go ahead and hang it in the shop to remind me of my first blowout. Of course, two years of steelies was uneventful but it only took six months for one of my 17's to get messed up.

any cracks, take a pic and post it.

if it aint too bad a machine shop might be able to bend it back, but it might be weak.

My dad told me about a place in town that will bend it back. I'll probably have it done and see how it turns out. Worst that could happen is I have a full size spare.
