It may be that I'm just too difficult to please, but I thought I'd check to see if this is normal...
I'm running a used set of Yokohama Parada Spec2 tires (225/40R/18). I don't know the exact mileage on them, but they looked about 30-50 percent worn when I got them, and I've added about 4000 KMs. I'm also pretty sure one them is out of round due to a shoddy patch job involving leak-stop from a can. Balancing didn't help much. All things considered, I think they're a pretty noisy tire, especially during braking, and it only seems to get worse with additional wear. This seems to be the consensus from reviews I've seen also, but I digress...
My actual question:
Is is typical to get a lot of feedback the road at the center line during lane changes? I get a very noticeable "grab" from each tire as I drive over painted lines, and it seems worse this season than last year. I've got to keep a pretty good grip on the wheel to counteract this, and frankly it's a bit annoying. Increasing tire pressure seems to reduce the effect at the expense of ride quality.
I'd like to decide whether this is simply a characteristic of the tires, or whether I should be hunting for a service issue such as poor alignment. I had an alignment done about a year ago, with no change in suspension other than swapping to stock tires and rims over the Winter.

I've never had that issue with any vehicle I have driven (has been around 20 so far) they have all been smooth over the center line. Could be however that they use different paint in northern alberta? or perhaps the road you are on has noticeable ruts?
I'm willing to accept the paving ruts are worse here, given the quality of the road crews.
In any case, I'm not too worried about it. Just wondered if anyone else saw similar handling.

It really depends on the road. There have been some roads that I've driven on that the groove is so bad that the car will pull one way or the other pretty good.
I don't attribute it to the tires, I attribute it to the road.

Thanks, Good to know.
I wonder if "the painted lines were too sticky" would be a good defense on an insurance claim.
