g-force sport or g-force super sport as?????
Tuesday, May 06, 2008 11:21 PM
I am trying to decide what I should do as far as tires go, I was going to go with the BFG g-force sports because I am going to get some traklites and I wanted a tire that I could have some fun with, but it would be a daily as well(I also have dedicated winter tires and rims so major snow is not an issue, if anything, a light snow if I am a dork and take the winters off too early like I did this year (although we get dumped on, alot))

I am wondering what others would suggest,

I know the sports are supposed to be a very nice tire(yes I know it is only for summer(I may just run 3 sets of tires throughout the year))

but I have not heard anything about the super sport as's

any info or insights into the two would be great,

or if you have a better tire for around the same cost, that might be good too.

I will have the 17X8's and I am a little tossed up on what size as well, 225/45r17 or the 235/40r17, leaning towards the 225's.

I do want to drive my car, maybe do some autocross if I can, and maybe a few trips at the track, but they would mainly be to drive like snot everyday.
I really like to push the car and see what it can do.

I am not an unsafe driver, but spirited.

thanks for any input you have
cheers
steve

DO NOT attempt to drive with g-force sports on during the winter, its suicide. the sport a/s's are just a z rated performance version of the original g-force sport. both are directional.

if you have dedicated winters, the g-force sport may be better for you, and they are generally a couple of bucks cheaper than the g-force sport a/s's.

G-Force Sport or Falken Azenis RT-615(Both have gotten nothing but good reviews so pick your brand lol)

225/45/17

/thread

It sounds like you won't be using the tires for winter so both tires will satisfy your "spirited" driving but you won't have to worry about grip in the snow. 225/45 is a more common tire size and keeps your speedo more accurate than 235/40.

I've got the sports on my silver cav and would say my driving habbits are close to yours. I love them but they suck in any amount of snow period....I installed the rims/tires ( ones in sig ) on the silver J as soon as I got it back from darkstars and it snowed like 2 days later about1/8 inch and they sucked bad......but I normally have a dedicated set of winter tires as well.

I honestly would buy another set if it's mainly for spirited driving in the summer.

well, I have my tires on order today, should get them on thursday or friday, have to call my buddy on tuesday and get the tracklites and see if he can get the mcgard black spline drive lugs and locks, if not, ebay will see a little of my hard earned money.

a rough guess on the cost
rims somewhere arround 220 a wheel(more or less cost plus a few bucks so he at least makes some money)880(may be taxes in allready, if not 924)
tires g-force sport (225/45R17, as long as I like how they look, or I may get the 235/40R17 in there place for a few bucks more)are 584 taxes in,
and I think with the lugnuts and hubcentric rings costing about 100-120 ish (expensive buggers)

so I should be rollin for $1564-1628

not too bad if you ask me, and should have them on the car by late june when I ge the car back form the shop, and all the other parts will be going on too,

the list:
lightweight crank and ac pulley,
eibach anti-sway bars
TTR K-frame brace,
motor and tranny mount inserts,
aem warm air intake,

the car will be driving like a new car by the summer and I can not wait!

havent touched the pressures at all. ive just come t the realization if you want them to stick, you have to accelerate faster through the turns

awsome tires, im nothing but happy with them.

I would agree with you there, but they are alot more money,
most of them are really nice, pilot sports, the ps2(I think that is what they are), and pilot sport a/s seam to do ok, but less performance, and not great snow driving, but decent for an "all season"

It was a choice between michelin and bfgoodrich because that is what I can get at work, and the warranty is really good, and we can usually beat all other's prices on what we carry.

and it looks like it will be about 8 weeks till I get my wheels, my buddy needs to call me back and let me know, but I don't have a huge rush, I wont' have my car back until the last week of june I think.

I did some shopping around on tirerack, and for what I want it would cost me $2032 for the rims and tires, and for lug nuts I don't want and spacers that would not fit (would have to put it in as a subaru impreza b/c the 17x8's are not recomended for the cav on it).

right now I have my tires sitting at work until I pay for them, trying to find out if I can get the black lugs and lock nuts I want from my buddy for less than ebay wants.

getting excited but I will be without the cav for at least three weeks starting on monday at 8 am
