What's the widest size tire that can fit on the 16" Z24 wheels? I found some 215 autocross tires and am hoping they will fit...

Grrr...nevermind. Just after I posted this, I found the thread I was looking for. It looks like they will fit fine.

225/50R16's are great for autocross on stock wheels , they are slightly smaller diameter so you can accelerate slightly faster.
Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.
how does everyone feel about putting 225/45/16 on the silver stock wheels on a '02 z?? not sure if they are same dimensions as the chrome ones or the ones from late 90's.

They are the same dimensions as the rest of the 16" Cav wheels. You could do it, but they will look weirdly small without the car being slammed on the ground, and even then they will look weirdly small. Use 225/50R16's.

Blech on the stock 6" wide wheels I'd stick with a 205. Anything more and the tread wont really be on the ground. If you want to auto-x in a street tire class and be competitive you really have two choices, the kooks and the toyos. The re11's and the star specs are close and better daily driver tires though (especially the star specs). Honestly I'd buy 16x7 wheels and run 225's. I would like to run 245's on the 16" wheel but that size is only made in slicks, guess that'll be the size I run next summer for the season once I can afford r-comps.

I haven't had a problem with tread not being on the ground.

Hmm my 205 are bulging off the wheel and I know I'd have a tad more tread on the ground with a 6.5.

You really don't get much bulge because the bead seems to be deeper as well. You can see how sunk in my Z wheel is in my old 225/50R16 Azenis, yet the sidewall remains vertical.
And they wore quite evenly...
No doubt that they would be better on a 7" wheel, but the 205/55 tire selection sucks if you want anything sticky. And the 225/50's are slightly smaller diameter, which is nice.

Theres plenty of sticky tires in our size, or a 205 and a tad smaller diameter, all the top street tires are available in it.

I have the BFG G-Force KD 205-55-16 and the hook very well. They pulled 1.9 60' times at the track and Auto-X have been top of my class. Plus I can get them for around 120 a tire and they last 40-60k depending on how hard you are on them.
225/50 and even tire wear across the tread at 40-45 PSI
