Hey guys I have a 2004 LS Sport Coupe. I came acrosss a nice used set of 225-60-16s on some aluminum american racing wheels. I know the speedo will be off 6 mph at 60 or so. I just want to know if you guys thing they will rub? They are only .93 " taller than the stock tires. I think it will be pretty close... any feed back will be great. Worse case scenario I can just sell the tires and get some new ones in a couple months.
Stock suspension? The width shouldn't be a problem, it's only 20mm from the ls sport rims. What I would do, jack up the front, mount the wheels, then drop it an turn the steering wheel and see if it clears. I'm sure it will be fine though.
Yeah I was worried more about the height. It's pretty close to the bottom of the stock struts. Maybe he will let me put the front 2 on before I buy them.
I have also read larger Tires will stress the brakes more. Do u think a diff of 7% would be that much of an issue on the stock brakes?
These DID NOT fit incase anyone was wondering
how so? I thought you said you have stock suspension.
I had a 60 series tire on my rims, and they fit, so honestly, I understand what your saying, unless your lowered.
They rubbed against the frame when I turned the wheel all the way. It might have been the width that did me in. What size tires are you running?
They fit under the spring and everything just rubbed.
215's, but plenty of people are running 225's. You might need a hub spacer to give you just a little bit of room. For some dumb reason it didn't click that they were on American racing rims and not stock chevy wheels. You can find spacers to just give you a little bit more room to use those wheels.
I don't know they already had a 43 mm offset. Do they make spacers with new studs? The stock studs seemed like they were just long enough to work with those wheels.
I have 225/60/R16 on my 04 Cavy with the older Z24 rims.
Even on stock ride height they rub... do not go any taller then 50 using a 225 tire!
