Hi everyone. I searched around for this info but have not found anything solid.
Basically I have 8 good yokos of this size from my Firebird which I can no longer use due to larger brakes. I really want to reuse these tires on the sunfire if possible. The Sunfire is bone stock. My plan is to buy 1 of these rims from tirerack

Mount the tire and see how everything fits. If it does not fit I'll be out about 100$
These Yoks were mounted in 16x8 rims on the firebird so 16x7.5 does not seem all that much smaller. Before I test this out I was hoping to hear some advice and suggestions from folks with more experience
Thank you much!
7.5" is too small for a 245. min width you should run is 8"
245's will fit but you may need to get creative with offset and fender rolling/pulling.
how wide of a tire can you fit on the stock rims from the 00-02 z24 (silver 5 spokes) ?? they might be only 6"
dude i got 245/45/17 on my sunfire with no problem but mine rub a little bcuz they are 17's. you should have no problems

your speaking out of your butt! your comparing two different wheels.. your are most likely a 17x7 to 17x7.5. stock 16s are only a x6 so he faces issues with the tire being to wide for the wheel not the car.
azncav: precisely. i highly doubt 245 would work for the wheel, and when you turn in parking lots etc. with rubbing
jonta simpson could you provide info for your rims? Thanks!
245/40/17 is alot closer to stock rolling diameter. i run this size on my sedan. being lowered, the fenders needed rolled/pulled.
I also am running a 17x8 with 35mm offset and the big brakes that are on the car help to push the wheels further out as well. otherwise, i'd be rubbing on my coilovers.
Hmm yeah all the tires on tirerack that are 245/45/16 all show a Rim Width Range of 7.5 - 9.0 which is why I think I may have a better chance of success.
My rims are an off brand and are 7.5-8 in width and are 17 inch rims I can't remember exactly I have no problems plus those are on my car year round I live Wisconsin with snow and hail bro and to the Guy that said I'm talking out of my butt you have no idea man craw under some rock far away this site cuz you are keeping people from trying new things with the j-bodies and finding things out. Trial and error

Hey guys. I have been running this setup with no issues at all for the last few months. No Rubbing even under hard cornering. The rears look great. The fronts do not as they stick out a bit. Gas milage went down by 4-5 mpg.
Thanks to everyone for their advise.
Got any pictures?

Lol was hoping you would not ask as the setup is not a looker. I have some photos at home, I will post later tonight.
So will 245/45/16 's fit on the cavalier or not, with the stock z24 rim?
Base 02 Cavalier project
The stock z24 wheels are too narrow for a 245... Pretty sure this was mentioned already.
I got 235/45/17 on 17x7 inch rims in back -pretty much maxed out on this rim so 245 would require at least an 8 inch wide rim for sure!

hey guys check out www.willtheyfit.com should resolve any issues and answer questions..lol
I have been doing a lot of research on this. I think a 245/45/16 on a 8" rim with 10-15 offset should clear most everything...as long as your not slammed. The 10mm is not going to clear some front spring / strut perches.
