My passenger side seat adjuster boke this past weekend and I need to find a way to replace it. Can anyone confirm that this is the correct way to replace it.
This is the piece that broke. It snapped off
I had to go to a junkyard. It was easy to get out cause I just ripped the @!#$ out of the seat cover, but taking the old one off my car and putting the new one on was tough. I think it cost like 6 bucks at pull-a-part.

this has happend to mine aswell, I was just gonna drill the rivits out and replace but my seat fabric is torn as well so im probably gonna swap seats soon anyway..You may wanna try drilling them out and then using a smaller threaded bolt or the interior threaded screw on rivets from home depot or somewhere
bump!
mine just broke... what did you end up doing to replace yours?
Lanman31337 -F = fatties = do not want. A little chunk in the junk is ok though.
anybody?

I ended up just swappign interior including seats so i didnt need to worry about fixing the handle, but there are two ways posted above that you can do either off..drill out the rivets remove broken part..
go to junk yard use hack saw oor something to cut off the handle of another seat still attached to the metel.. take it home, drill out rivets, replace onto your handle rerivet.
what i did,i went to the junk yard and picked up 2 98 cav seats,$10 bucks.my driver side was broken,oh well
and the 98 seats got the head rest thing for thye selt belts so not bad of an deal then
but yea,8 bolts and your good as new
when its all or nothing, just remember to do not short shift

This happened to me as well, but mine was still under warranty, I just took it back to Chevy and got it replaced. They changed out EVERYTHING under the seat. It was a crazy amount of money that I, thankfully, did NOT have to spend. But then, we all know how GM's prices are.
WTF are you guys doing that is breaking these?!?! I have never seen one break.

My sister-in-law was driving my car to Tampa and when she tried to adjust the seat back, she didn't lean forward off of it, so the adjuster didn't move and it just tore through the plastic.

Breaking them is easier than it seems. Start having tons of passengers who love adjusting the seat back and forth (women) and it will happen.

im probably the third owner of the car (2nd owner for sure) the guy I bought the car from has two brothers and the mom and dad who all borrowed it (it was the spare car for when someone else had to take the car to the shop or just needed the extra car) not to mention its 11 years old..
the seat cushion would get a little compressed so when you pulled the handle up and let it back down it would get caught on the cushion.. after so many people and 11 years.. some things just tend to give.
swapping the setup by taking the seat apart and swapping the handle and assembly out easy 15 mins i took mine a apart when i did my seat upolstrey.
