power window conversion
Sunday, November 05, 2006 8:18 PM
I am looking into converting my car into power windows and was wondering if anybody has done it before and how hard of a job it would be. A local shop gave me an estimate of 300 to do it and they didn't know if they could wire the kit to the factory switches which i really want. Any help would be nice.

Go for the spal its what I had in my car. U remember the only problem that I ran into was that ground wire when I was at your place that one night. I can't even remeber how long I have had them in and working flawlessly

The shop i was thinking about taking it told me i would have to get a Spal kit and thats the recommended kit. I found it the cheapest on slickcar.com. Is there any difference between the regular kit and the deluxe kit because its only a five dollar difference because i am probably just going to get the deluxe anyways i figure it cant hurt.

go to the wrecker, get 2 sides, and install it yourself.

did it myself, and its all factory looking, even wired up to the proper breaker, factory switches and everything

Not to thread jack, but is there a spal kit for a sedan that doesnt include the switches?

I want to use stock switches and not the ones it comes with.

they are called split rivets and they require a special rivet gun called the "big daddy". you do NOT need to use them altho it is reccomended. the rivet gun is like 100 bucks. where as you can just use some bolts with nylon lock nuts and do the same thing
