The cupholder on my 1999 Pontiac Sunfire GT has gotten a little deformed so I took the rubber piece out. However, now most cups don't fit in there very well. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, have you found a fix for it?
^^^^^ what he said.......really..this question had to be asked?
Sorry...I forgot to mention that when it wasn't deformed, most water bottles would fall right out because the cup holder is too big. I thought maybe there might be a fix for that....
Cant really do much about that. The cupholders are awful I end up holding my cans of Monster and water bottles between my legs cause theyre so awful.
I actually just saw a picture of a Sunfire cupholder that had circular brush like material (for lack of a better word.) were there only certain Sunfires that had this?
Ive never seen one of those before. Thats definitely a cupholder from a 95-99 Sunfire. Im pretty sure they went to 2 cupholders in 2000 and the Cav ones are different. I have a 99 Sunfire SE and I dont have it and you have a GT soooo Im at a loss.
I actually swapped a 95-99 Fire console into my Cav and it looks like that, cupholder works great. Sometimes wish I had two but I like having two cigarette lighters more
Bastard. Any idea what year it was from exactly? This is probably one of those weird GM things where theres no consistency.

My 04 Sedan has two cup holders and two cig lighters. although I can't say that I seen (or noticed) that "brush" feature on a J before.
The newer cavalier consoles are better than the 99 and prior models because the cupholders are actually deeper and the drinks don't topple when turning.

best bet:
PM MARK AND ASK ABOUT THE CUPHOLDER
^^that looks more angry than i had intended...
I have one of the "brush things" in both my and my wifes cars. I have a 96 Sunfire GT Coupe and my wife has a 97 Sinfire SE Sedan
