need paint to stick

i have read many posts about painting interior and i have dont it in the past, but I am thinking about either putting vinyl on the door pannel or painting it. well my question is, since it is going to be on the door and it could take some abuse, what can I do to make it stronger and not chip so easily? or should i just vinyl it

oh, i thought you were saying you were gonna paint the vinyl parts.

the door panel itself is plastic, you can sand it smooth and paint it no problem. use a plastic adhesion promotor, and it'll stick no problem.

also use a good quality urethane paint, lay down some clear and you'll be good to go for a LONG time, it'll last as long as your car's paintjob.

Thought about dying it? I dyed my interior and it still is holding up perfect.

you know you all say to start out with 120 to sand smooth..... THAT TAKES FOREVER! if I was to use 120 to take the grain out of my plastic and make it smooth I think I would be as big as arnold lol. I prefer 80 120 200 then prime and 300 wet and price again...... Thats my preference...
