you'll have to take off the sliders in order to mount the bucket seats in back. there's just no room for them.

If I ever get to ride in your car, I call Shotgun right now!

Someone gon' die!

Mighty Jabba will not ride in rear bucket seats.

Ignorant & uninformed comment...

If installed carefully and correctly, rear buckets can be just as safe as the front buckets. Without having to worry about an airbag smacking into your face.

You definitely need to take off the stock sliders. Mounting them can be done by creating custom brackets and either welding them or using bolts to connect said brackets to the floor.

it's not even the seats that hold you in place in the case of an accident. it's the seatbelts. as long as the brackets are made well enough, there shouldn't be a problem with rear bucket seats.

What the hell? Apparently I already posted that. An hour and fifteen minutes ago.

Stupid time machine being broken...

You might have to cut out some of your floor and weld in some new sheet metal to do it. Then you could use the same mounting brackets and sliders. It's worth the work and effort. I've though about doing this myself.

Raptor,

I was totally kidding. No need to call me ignorant.

Jeez, dude, calm down a little.

This would also require either reshaping the gas tank (yuck), or getting a fuel cell (yay).

Jabba: I was perfectly relaxed. It's sometimes hard to sense sarcasm or humorous comments on a static medium like a forum. No hard feelings.

Raptor, I agree - no problemo.

97zburner,

Looks like there is a lot of work ahead to put buckets in the back - cool if you have tons of cash and time. Me, I would probably spend both on other projects.

But I'd like to see pics if you end up doing it.

Jabba: werd.

Pretty basic install... I got a good deal on the seats, and the necessary hardware cost me about $50. Total project was in the range of $85. Took me about a day to complete.

I know i read somewhere, that you need to drop down the gas tank to bolt the back buckets into place. Because you can't get to the bolt from above. Is that correct?

97zburner: I didn't cut anything in the car. I did make custom brackets, using some nuts, bolts, and 16g L-shaped bars of steel.

ruen: Yeah, you have to drop the gas tank to drill holes for the bolts. Otherwise, you'd drill right into the gas tank. The gas tank should be removed if you're welding brackets in, also.

i think its easyer to do in the sedans due to the higher roof in the back. i was thinking about doing this in my 05 coupe awhile back but i didn't want to drop the gas tank and drill through the floor.

its been done like others have said, but its probally a lot of work/fab. but if your up for it it will worth it in the end.
good luck
hope it goes smoothly for you.
