This Year my summer project is to paint the interior of my sunfire gt black and silver. I have read a lot of the post about interior painting so i know generally how to do it and everthing but i was just wondering if the paints/dye's fade and if so how badly. If anyone has painted the interior of the sunfire black and silver please send me some pics so i can better my ideas. Also because i am new to interior painting i was wondering on a scale of 1-10 how hard is it to do.
Thanks a lot everyone

You're new? I give it an eight. After you learn what you're doing, it's more around a one.
I haven't had any fading problems. Yet.

very easy if the right steps are followed. dont half a$$ the sanding and primeing and you'll be fine

i'm currently redoing my interior as a bit of an experiment, the vinyl i'm pretty sure will be great for at least this summer, the actual paint i'm not so sure of, i'm using a product called mar-hyde on my dash and door panels vinyl peices, the stuff is a spray on dye more than a paint, it soaks into the vinyl and becomes one with the material according to the can, an old body man down here told me about it and the stuff is great, clean your dash with mar-hyde total prep and then spray the color you want on you'll be golden, stuff dries to the touch in about 20 mins and is weather ready in 2 hours, mine didnt get that kind of love as it went back in the car 30 mins after i sprayed it and it held up just great, its out right now being redone, oddly enough silver and black lol, i'm also using rust o leum(spelling?) plastic primer on all the peices i pulled out and so far it seems to work really good, the silver i've got takes 5 to 7 days to setup properly so the first week it could get scratched up, also i havent sanded ANY of my panels just a real good cleaning with acetone/paint thinner and a degreaser, whichever doesnt start eating the panel first lol, so far its worked out great, the door panels on my car have plastic poles on the back of the door below the part that looks like 2 halves joined together, these are then melted over like welding to secure the vinyl/carpet/plastic panel to make it one peice of material you will have to cut these off to get access to the panels or you can do a really good job of taping and papering the peices to get paint in there without over spray onto the carpet, vinyl parts. the lower half of the door, the plastic below the vinyl is very very thin, i used a couple different bits trying to get in there and remove enough material the first one bit into the material and went thru the panel, the second on left little pin holes in the panel for me to try and fill DO NOT CUT THE PANELS LOOSE ITS A HEADACHE TO FIX, the upper part of the carpet arm rest and trim peice/handle around the door lock and actual door handle is much thicker and can be removed no problems and put back on with some adhesive spray and super glue, i'll post some finished pics as soon as i have my car back together

anywho...about the color fading...you shouldn't have a problem...you can always give it a nice wax and pollishing too
