im a detailer and yes use some hot water and soap mixture and scrub or buy a carpet cleaner, let it soak in then use the scrub thing that it comes with.
salt friggin sucks ....i just washed my cav today and well its gonna snow like a MOFO tonite...but needed to keep up with it so id didnt get too bad......try putting some wax on it it might help to resist it sticking so bad..

i used a carpet cleaner. worked wonders. you should be able to rent them somewhere....
