Well I took my tan interior off of the car. I'm working on glassing my Z interior out of my parts car, but that carpet is going to bug me not being black. So this is why I'm askin' about dying the carpet. I was thinking about some of the dye that many use in the washing machine to just put in some bottles and add some watter and spary the whole thing. So this is what I'm going to do, but I want to know if you think this will work.
1. Spary whole carpet with mixed black dye onto carpet
2. Let dry out on the ground
3. Put it in a bin to take to the car wash
4. Spary the crap out of it and try to get all extra dye out
5. Let dry in the shade so sun doesn't bleach it out some (not that it would much)
6. Maybe repeat steps 1-5 till nice and black
7. Put like some 3M scott's protected to from anything.
So will this work for me, or does anyone have any products they have used for the same effect. I don't want to use those spary cans cause it leaves the headliners I've seen to hard. Thanks

Why spend that much money when you only have to spend like maybe 10 at the most. Also having something shipped to your apartment is a pain to deal with. I have accts with them to order, but why waste something good and waste the money?
^^^exactly. i took mine out last summer and sprayed it with some upholstry dye. bought two cans at $7 each and it worked fine. its not stiff like some dyes will leave it, and its kept its color w/o fading

Do you remember what the company was of the dye? I remember now riding on your floor at the bash cause you had no seat,
but it wasn't hard.
So that was good for me.

Well I could always redo it, but I'm going to seal it with some scotts gard.
IIRC, Weas had a nice write-up on dying floor mats on his site. If it's still there, you might want to give it a look...
I remember that very well. I was just doing something a lot bigger and was wondering if these would work, only cause I don't have a tub this big to put it all in.

What was the brand of stuff you used? If you remember where you got it too it would help. Thanks
I used some fabric paint that specifically said on the spray can "for carpets" but it didn't work worth a @!#$. After a couple of hours, my friend's shoes would rub the spray off. Under my floor mats, it was almost back to tan!!
Then I used SEM's Color Coat spray paint... not meant for it, but it worked better than the other crap.
