can someone please tell me why my 04 cluster doesn't work right in my 01? the guy that I bought it off of said it was compatible with 00-04.
Look!------
pull the lens off and rotate the needs couter clock wise tell they are near the lower side of the scale
the plug them back in
try that
I thought the 00+ clusters reset everytime you start your car
...do the needles move a bit when you start your car?

I've tried everything! moved the needles 3 or 4 times unpluged it...disconnected the neg bat terminal...no clue waht is up. it will work right for a few days or so then it will f ^!
At first I just thought it was because of the year differences but...who knows
I ordered another cluster from an 03 we'll see if it works right when it comes.
im having the same problem right now. I removed my speed glo gauge without taking out the needles and my speedometer and tachometer look like the pic above while the temperature and fuel needles were correct. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do? I got an '02 sport. I tried setting the speedometer at 0 along with the rpms and then start my car. When I shut it off the speedometer needle will gradually go farther past zero each time I start my car.
OMG that sucks wish i could help u
Looks like the 00-02 gauges are wired differently then the 03+ gauges. I hope i got the years right cause my 00 has the fuel gauge on the other side. SO maybe the harness is different for the later years.
Fact 1:
“Facts are meaningless. You could use facts to prove anything that’s even remotely
true.

well you are right. my new trick is to keep turning over the ignition a bunch of times and it will all reset to zero
got the 03 cluster today and it works just fine!!! the 04's must be different after all.
i took mine to a local garage and the technician "re-zeroed" my cluster and now it works fine. He charged $70 for the hour to do it. I wasn't to happy when my chevy dealer said it would be $90 just to look at it and that it sounded like i would need a new cluster ($300).
