I have an 04 fire and have a 360* radar, where sould I mount it? It gets readings from all sides. I was thinking of mounting it below the rearveiw, and running the wire into the headliner and down the A-piller. GOOD IDEA?
What have you peeps done? I am looking for something pemanet... Just don't wanna stick velcrow on my new dash.
My Sunfire
I have mine at the very top of the windshield,...like above the mirror. I also have it like you said and ran the wire down the side of the window or A-piller to my fuse box. Seems like an ok place to me and it still works. I like it at the top also because its hard for somebody to see it and steal.

Does it get good reception? And how did you attach it? Also, whats a safe ignition switched power source and the best way to tap it... I think I/m gonna hook it up to a relay, because i plan on running more ignition swiched stuff. Don't wanna overload...

have mine right above the rear view mirror. in my old neon i had ran it through the dash and put it in the lower drivers side corner of the windshield. both places got good reception. mine is just plugged into the cig lighter so i can't help you with the wiring.

I had my silver bullet right in the center of the windshield... but some asshat decided he wanted it and broke my driverside window to get it.... so now I have it right beside the rearview mirror. You can't tell I have it because of the 5% sunstip.
I used to have my radar detector in the car...took that out though. When I had it, I put it at the front like most people (in the middle), but then I moved it to the rear windshield, facing the traffic BEHIND me. That actually worked pretty well...
I later moved it to the left hand side of the dash.

i would mount mine right behind the rear-view, but it's always smart to have the detector on a switch, not just a hard-wire; if you get pulled over and they see you have a radar detector turned on.... you're in bigger trouble

i've never had a problem for having my radar detector on. i know in some states like i believe Virginia they're illegal, but as far as i know in most states they're not.

my friend has one and its on the front windshield in the middle top. I was riding with him and there was a cop in the gas station waiting to pick people off as they drove down the main road. The thing didnt beep till we were right next to him on the road. I dont trust it.

what brand.......i have a valentine V1 and swear by it, it beeps at me probably half a mile out or more depending on the land, if its flat ground, i'll get warned half to 3/4 of a mile out, on hills usually about a half mile out
