well i know that taking them OFF is suicide but i was wondering about just moving them. they accidentally got moved while i had the plastic off so i just moved them back to where they all are when the cars off. I need a person who ACTUALLY KNOWS if JUST MOVING them will completely mess them up like removing them does.
i moved mine, and they seem to be fine. ive had em going after i moved them for almost 6 months now. just make sure they are in the same spot as they originally were

yeah had to move mine a bit to install guages, they're only fractions off now but I tested them to be sure they were pretty accurate and they were. I think there's a way to recalibrate but I'm unsure as to how.
I bought a 00-02 cluster with tach for my step-dad and the fuel gauge was about a 1/4 tank below the E Mark, to reset your gauges just turn them to the right till it stops, and if you push alittle farther it'll reset that "home" position. That'll make it go up, to make it go down more do the reverse and push it further down the other way. It'll take a couple of times till you get it perfect. $35 for a cluster that i fixed in less than 5 minutes.

Old post but possibly relevant to my question: Is there a solution similar to this for the 95-99 Js?

my 02 i removed my needles,
they got stuck and wouldn't move after replacing them.....
i figured this out, the little motors still work after you remove the needles, but what happens, is that there are crimp points on the metal saft on the needle....
also when i pulled mine out, i had 1 needle that the metal shaft stayed in, that one i never had to mess with, but the others, i just shaved to crimp points off, recalibrated the cluster after quite a few tries, and another car to compare it to...
works great, I even got a chance to play with a couple of those speed check thingys on the side of a road and when i had it to 75 and 10-25, it was perfectly on mark!!!
