Someone make a thin fiberglass or even carbon fiber cover for the piece near the windshield that is notorious for cracking on the Cavaliers!
Being thin will allow flex and flush installation, while giving us an easy fix to this problem.
Or I'll just go to the junkyard, tear a fresh non cracked one out, and install it in my Z someday......
Just an idea
.
I've thought about this myself, but it seems the shipping would be a problem for something that flimsy. If they can damage a hood, I don't want to see what they could do to a long, thin piece of fiberglass.

its been done a local shop here in atx sells them. all i did for mines was take it off and renforce it underneath with a rubber cement type compound or even liquid nails would work quite nice.. just shoot bunch out spread it let it dry and sand..
beer is like a chick.. well not really its just beer, it be cool thou huh?
Carbon fibre doesnt work the way you suggest. The grain has to be in a specific way inorder to support. Twill also makes a big differance. YOu might as well just wrap the thing in celiphane.
Fact 1:
“Facts are meaningless. You could use facts to prove anything that’s even remotely
true.
Well then a fiberglass piece wrapped with CF......
Either way it'd be nice to actually see it done. It's pretty sad that someone couldn't safely ship something like so though.............
You could just wrap it in a color matching vynal so that when it does crack, you won't be able to see it...

i thinks thats what i'm gonna do, only i'm gonna wrap it in tweed
Actually, our new J-Body company is opening up within a few weeks. We're working on a solution to this problem. I'm sure it'll help EVERYONE out
I'll make sure to start a thread on it when we release something...

i don't see why a slim peice of Cf wouldn't work
i mean has anyone seen the CF bezel's Rk sells for the 03+ tails lights. those things are flimsy. there is no reinforcement and you can kind of see through it if you hold it in the light.
my dash is starting to crack and I want to fix it before it cracks all the way. maybe I'll try this
Brett - We've already looked that over. Thanks for the concern though

the sunfire one comes out right? is it the same size as the cav one? if so, maybe you could work something out with that.
or just do like brett said and cover it with vinyl/tweed/etc.

yup...the sunfire one pops right off...the cavy's are molded to the whole under part of the dash...
i heard this problem was caused due to the screw in the center being too tight? if so just loosen it? wrap it in vinyl/material of your choice? custom make a new dash? slap a sticker over it to hide it
? there are so many options/ideas you can do about the crack...just think what you can do to either cover it up or fix it.
are the sunfire's and the cavy's the same width and shape??
could you possibly just use the sunfire one to make a shape for CF and place (3M double sided tape) it on that part of the dash?
