in order to fiberglass the vynal part of the door panel, is it possible to just glass it ...or is there any special prep work for vynal
you can not mix resin and vinyl together, it'll be a huge mess beyond which you could possibly imagine, YOU CAN however fiberglass carpet and plastic, if your going to fiberglass your panels, you need to remove all the vinyl, the foam padding behind it and all the the glue that holds that on, go back down to base plastic, its gonna take time and effort and be a total PAIN but it will be well worth it, also when attatching big sections of glass i've heard its best to dril lots of small holes and try to get the resin to run thru, my current project i have a bunch of wholes drilled thru the plastic panel wit about a 1/8th inch drill bit then add some resin tot he holes on the back side let it cure and if your desperate lay another layer of glass over the top of that and your good to go.

With plastic parts why not just scuff it up, then lay three or four good thick coats of primer and wetsand. Bypass the resin completely.

filler primer! works great on plastic to smooth it out. I used duplicolor filler primer.
yeap
lol im in the process of getting all of the vinyl off right now and lemme tell ya....its such a pain in the ass...i hate it...but it will look tits when im done
this is after an hour or 2 with the razor blade
the armrest part is gonna be the biggest pain in the ass
btw my finger is damn sore from holding that razor blade to cut all of that off lol
if you glass it make sure you use cloth or it's just gonna crack and fall apart..trust me, Im redoin my cause I cheaped out the first time..do it right the first time.
yeap...either use cloth or mat ...im usin mat because it is thicker and i will be covering the holes where the little cubbies are on the bottom
I would remove the trim piece on top of the door too. If you are careful taking it off you can always re-staple it back on. I think you'll run into problems later on if you don't/
