3M spray adhesive - will this work for my project?
Wednesday, March 30, 2005 2:03 PM
I am a big fan of this product and have had no problems, but this one could get a bit tricky...

Do you guys think the spray adhesive would hold if I glued a very light material to my headliner? The material in question is a very thin plastic, I am saving the details until I have pics! I'm worried that over time, the weight will make the piece fall down on my head...

Or is this stuff truly our "miracle adhesive"?

Are you talking about the stuff in a can, or the really good stuff you need a gun to spray?

Maybe small, short, screws that are the color of whatever you are attaching, and just screw into the headliner?

Or maybe use your glue (I agree, that stuffs the @!#$) and tac it with a few screws.

Or even take your headliner out and use the existing holes in the car to screw or clip it up.

the stuff doesnt hold up in high heat. it will eventulaly give. esp. on the roof when all the weight of the material will be pulling down. not sure what exactly u want to put up there, you said plastic right? the weight of it will be the determining factor really. for something like that i'd go more the epoxy route

OK, thanks guys.

I think I like the screw idea best, but I will see what other adhesives I can find.

Maybe a combo of the 77 spray and a few well-placed screws will do it.
