cleaning the headliner

When summer/spring finally comes along, i'm planning to take out all of the seats in my car and the console and shampoo the entire carpet so it looks like new. Anyways I was looking at the headliner and one part needs to be cleaned (by the sunroof), how do you guys think I should clean this?

its just has a very faint stain on it, its almost like someone took a some a charcoal smeared hand and rubbed it onto the headliner (but not that dark), i'm gonna probably grab a spray bottle and spray it down with water, then i'll get some carpet stain remover and i'll scrub it and vacum it up.

find some general purpose cleaner...preferably find your local detail shop and ask them if you could buy some from them for a small price...all you need is one spray bottles worth...

if you cant do that...soap and water will do almost just as well...

buy a scrub brush...have a vac on hand...and cover anything you dont want to get wet with back-spray or drippage...

spray the stain down and DO NOT be afraid to soak it...scrub it till it looks good enough for your liking...and then vac the rest of the moisture up...

i do this everyday on the cars i detail at my shop...if it is still damp to the touch after you vac out the moisture...leave your windows down or cracked (this is dependent on how big of an area you are trying to clean)

if the area is small i wouldnt worry about airing it out...but if you wanted to clean your whole headliner...drop the windows and air it out well...

hope this works out for you...like i said i see some REALLY BAD headliners and make them good as new...you should be fine...good luck!
