Thanx alot, the air bag cover is done just need to wet sand it a lil bit. All others are still rough and ALOT of sanding awaits...
did you jus fiberglass over the vinyl?
No stripped all vinyl off first it was a pain in the ass
what did the top dashpad look like after you stripped it...i hear its smooth as all hell plastic
no actually it has the same texture as the vynal except on the curved areas then they have vertical like going straight up and down... i guess this is to hold the glue better. I have a total of three dashes. One that I stripped off all of the vinyl from and one that had the airbags deploy so its a little bent out of shape and one that is PERFECT but its in my car right now

Yea its still rough under the vinyl. I cant work on it today to cold.
doesnt look too bad. but man....good luck sanding down around the airbag....looks like itll be a bitch to sand that down.

Why there is more resin in that one spot near the air bag is cuz there was a crack so i cut it out and filled it in more.
OK you do know that you really have to fiberglass the dash right? All you really had to do was strip the vinyl off, and sand the hell out of the plastic! It will be smooth, the only reason the glass it is if you are doing custom work! would have saved you alot of work. good luck

Holy fitment issue, batman.
The vinyl is thick. Just tearing it off and sanding down whatever frame may be beneath it would leave you with massive gaps around the mini-vents, the center vent, the airbag cover, and the passenger's side vent.
When you "save work" like this, it's not worth it. I'd rather spend 40 hours of work on something to make it perfect, than to spend only 2 and my project look half-assed.

Very true, im molding all my vents though.
that looks pretty good man, can't wait to see finished pics, what year is the dash trim? the 7 inch looks like it was meant to be there lol, I was thinking about picking up a spare dash and adding a touch screen moniter to it but i dunno, might have to kick that idea around for alittle while.
j~
i might be doing this because i plan on doing my door panels...and if i do my door panels then everything else will look out of place so im gonna end up doin the quarter panel pieces on the backseat area, the bottom dash and upper dash and a pillars and the whole 9 yards
I have drilled alot of holes to glass the back and make a sandwich. But i only used matting for where the top piece was cracked so far going to use more though.
