what is the brand of those tach? also are they lighted ? (talking about the black ones)
the smaller ones are perfect for a gauge pod and inexpensive
Go to Autozone and get the SunPro tach....its a great tach at a good price. Ive had mine for a year now and it's given me pretty reliable readings...
no autozone over here
and im asking about the tach cause they are in special at walmart for 13$
both your cars in your profile are automatics, why would you need a tach, one from walmart none the less

Why the hell do you care, he was asking a question, its not your car.
I just want to know my rpms to save some gas and all this plus i will know how much rpm my car run at when im on the freeway and well i really miss having one,had one in my sunbird and grand am (both stock tach) !!
I'm not sure though but its probably junk. But hell for the price it cant hurt to try it
/\ thats what i was thinking..
instead of getting a seperate tach, why don't you try and swap in another gauge cluster that has a tach on it? i know it's a little more work and will cost more than $13, but (imo) it will look better.
For 13 bucks i wouldn't expect much but for that price pick one up try it out, if its craptastic, trash it, its not a big loss. Hell, you'll spend more than double that for gas anymore.
if you get a tach dont get a sunpro tach. i know people who have them and they arent right. also since your car is a 2.2 you'll need a tach adaptor. your better off doing what they said and swap in a new cluster
swap in a cluster with a tach, that's what i wished i did before buying and installing my monster tach.
I bought an autometer 2 1/16" tach from Jason at A+performance... somthing like $107.50 shipped.
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the guages are made by Actron, who also makes the SunPro guages.
i already changed my cluster and tryed to find one with a tach from a 3 speed auto or 4 speed auto and was out of luck
and i will never screw a tach on my dash i will custom mount it on the A pillar in a fiberglass enclosure!
walmart is top quality man...just remember you get what you pay for
youre saying that you would actually trust a gauge from walmart?
just go to autozone.com and buy a reliable one there. done.
