Hi. The bottom of my seats have rust on them. The area is on the bottom where the brackets bolt to the floor. I would rather not replace the seats. Has anyone else experienced this? I am considering removing the seats and sanding and repainting the brackets. Any ideas?

Mine have been rusty since I got the car, never really understood why there was rust inside the car.

The only time I know of rust inside of a car is when the car has been in a flood. If you bought the car used chances are the car may have had a lot of water in it at one point or another. If not...I dunno.
If the car was detailed by a shop or used car lot they probably shampooed the carpets and got everything wet, then it just started to surface rust, did the car come from a dry or wet climate? How about a northern climate with a lot of snow. Just some other things to think about.
I live in northern IL so the weather is terrible practically the entire year. The snow and salt and ice could easily cause this. I know that. I doubt the car was in a flood. I am just wondering what people have done about this.

I have the same problem.... Probably take um out n get um powercoated.... or just can buy a straight replacement
are you guys in snowy states or provinces? if you are its from not knockinking the snow and salt off your feet.
maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow....... but some day
Exactly what Zach said. I'd suggest taking a wire brush or a wire wheel to it to get the surface rust off. Much easier than hand sanding. Or any rotary tool with an abrasive tip.
Definitely caused by the water left over from snow/rain/etc.

Thank you for suggestions. Kinda suprises me that this has never been a topic before. Seems kinda common in certain parts of the country. Thanks.

Yeah, mine are pretty bad too. I haven't done anything about them yet because the floor of my interior (so far) has not yet been an item of concern.
Carpet's getting pretty dirty though, I guess I should clean/dye it sometime soon.
