alright, well i took out the center console piece today, and decided i wanted to paint it silver.
instead of just shakin' up a can of silver paint and just spraying it on right away, i decided i wanted it to look fiberglassed, you know that glossy look to it.
i've been sanding it for 2 hours straight, and it still isn't fully done.
(quick question: once sanding is done i clean the surface, 3 layers of paint, then 3 layers of primer, right?")
anyways i was wondering if some people have the outcome of what this looks like. just like a shiny center console piece.
thanks in advance guys.
I think you meant to say primer before paint correct?
- Sand to desired smoothness.
- Clean the hell out of it with acetone or denatured alcohol.
- Spray primer (number of coats is up to you)
- Wetsand primer with fine grit sandpaper.
- Spray color (again, number of coats is up to you)
- Wetsand with super fine grit.
- Spray clear.
- Wetsand with ultra fine grit.
Wait a few days
- Finish with a rubbing compound & a polishing glaze
- Put on sunglasses and enjoy the glare.
