removing guage cluster 95 OBDI

I want to remove my guage cluster and install Autometer guages in it's place, Some have said before that the car will not run without the cluster. Question is, has anyone done this? Karo has his done but wasn't sure on HOW it was done. I want to do this so I can tell how fast I'm going since the stock speedo doesn't go high enough.

As long as the motor will for sure run without the stock cluster, I'm set, all I need is the guages, and my custom harness.

it's OBDI from a 95 Sunfire GT, manual trans, just so that's clear.

Anyone? I'd hate to have to tear into the dash to find out if the car will start/run without the guage cluster, just to put it back together again.

You should have no problem if it's a 95. It's only the OBD II cars that have the problems with the computer needing a cluster plugged in

Why not just take it out and try starting it? 10 minute job to get it out, turn the key, no start then you need it, start and your good to go...

Buy stuff from CarCustoms Ebay! Won't be disappointed!

that's a lot of extra work just to see if it's going to start up.

I'll start getting the gauges together and the plate fabbed up off a J-yard cluster.

Thanks for all the help
