if u cleaned the parts and seperated them as much as possible then u just spray them. whats your problem with them? if the paint isnt sticking or flaking its usually from not being cleaned before being painted.

wouldnt hurt to lightly sand it either. but you dont have to. I primer all my stuff to seems to help teh paint adhese a little better. Also clear coat as mentioned. It will definatly make the paint stay on longer than usual. I m never painting vents again b/c peopel cant keep thier hands off the fuggers! they would always start to strip and chip paint by moving the little slider back and fourth when there were nO Directional dealys in it. But you know how morons are lol so thus i dont paint vents anymore. hahha

well when i got it all painted up when i put it back together it was so stiff you couldnt adjust the vent and it was scratching off where the adjustment knob slides.

what grit sand paper did you use? and what paint?

yea, i had the same prob, just keep the adjustment knobs off and all the fins from the inside. then sand it prime it and paint it with 2 coats

or you can only paint the inside of the vents and not the outside of the vents like i did and you wont have that problem

these are some REALLY REALLY old pictures lol but you get the point

Well, i painted my vents. I removed all the inner fins, (what a pain in the ack that was to put back together), Cleaned and sanded lightly with a fine grit just the outside grill part, taped the little adjustment slider in the middle, so no pant would be there, The just sprayed 2 coats of GM silver on, clearcoated them, let the dry, pulled the tape off, reinstalled the fins, and slider, and put back in the dash.

Simple as that.

As long as you dont paint the slider piece, you wont have any problems with it chipping or anything like that.

If you put some though as how to do it. Its easy.
