I bought a bunch of these new rocker switches for my upcoming LED switch panel. I am used to wiring the standard 3-prong ones, but these new ones have a "dual" prong at the top. Instead of one big prong, there are 2 smaller ones, side by side.
Should I connect the hot lead to just one of them or twist it around both?
Thanks!

This is the item^
No pic of the back of it - no schematic, although the prongs are labeled "1" "2" and "3"
Number 3 has a + and - symbol beside each "subprong".

Nope, definitely 2-position...
I'm gonna try to get the phone number of the manufacturer.
By the way, if anyone wants these, you can use a nickel to template the holes you need to cut to mount them - works perfect!
Thanks for your help, lawnMowerRacer - but that schematic does not say where to actually hook up any of that stuff...

im guessing 1 & 2 are for the switch and 3's sub prongs are for the led

Oi Vai! A Jewish J-Body! Sweet!
You should put an XM antenna in the rear roof as a yarmulka! lol
Anyway, thanks for the input - Raptor will get here sooner or later to sort this out for me.
I called the maker but they were no help...

These prongs are two different sizes, right? 1 and 2 are the same size, then the prongs labeled 3 are the same size. Right?
The smaller prongs, #3, are for the LED. Connect a 12v source to the positive one and a ground to the other. If you're unsure which is which, get at them with an ohmmeter.
Prongs 1 and 2 are your supply and accessory prongs. Connect one to a 12v source and the other to your accessory.

Who the hell are you? Don't be an ass.
I'm kidding.
I was just backing up what you'd already stated. Two affirmatives are always better than one, right?

no, i concur. It's great that you had the info too. I was just guessing through knowledge but i'm glad you had the real facts.

ummmmmmm hold on ppl lol, i used the same switches when i had my car, an im using them in my truck now, but mine was just 3 prongs... had the 12v, the acc, and the ground... and thats it...
Some of them come in four prongs. They're typically used in case modding... it allows the user to hook up the switch so that the LED is always on (in parallel to the switch), or only on when the accessory is on (in series with the switch).
The method I gave above will wire the switch's LED in parallel.
The following method will set it up in a series, so the LED acts as a "power on" indicator:
1. Hook the #3- (LED ground) up to a ground.
2. Hook up the #1 prong to your 12v source.
3. Create a Y with some wire and two end terminals. Put one on the #2 prong, and the other on the #3+ (LED source) prong. Take the third end and connect it to your accessory.

Awesome guys.
I hooked in my new 5-switch panel today and everything runs great. I actually was not happy with the LEDs being on all the time, and now know how to fix this.
I'll post some pics tomorrow. Now I just need to get my wheel well and door handle LEDs installed and I'll need yet another switch panel for all of the interior glow I'm planning...
