And so it begins... (preperation for the 7.2" LCD
Saturday, April 23, 2005 1:27 PM
Well Yesaterday I pushed the 2.4 into the driveway so i could start preping it for the moulding/fabrication of my LCD moniter when i get it (in about a week). So yesterday I got out the hacksaw & hacksaw blade, dremel and lots of bits and wanted to get the hard part done.. Relocating the HVAC unit... Fun you say? of course! LOL here's a pic i snapped b4 i stopped b/c david was whining b/c he was hungry! LOL So I cutt out the entire HVAC mountint area.. so i can mount the HVAC directly below the radio. got it all cut out and the HVAC fitted here's a pic of the desolate hole that i have now.. LOL

Day 1.... finished..
Casualties - 0
headaches - 0
fun - 10!

This is a PS of what It will turn out like in the end.

And so Day 2 was riddled with rain untill about 4 pm here.. so no work on it till then. Once the rain stopped I went and got to work! lol As i mentioned i cutt the right side in teh pic too short... just a smidge.. so i had to go ahead and glass in a new mount in where i could mouth the HVAC to lol So i got to work on that.

ALLLLLLLLLSOOOOOO my last nitrous switch came in the mail today! wOOt wOOt!!! So I centered it up and drilled the hole and mounted the switch. it looks REALLY nice there.. so hawt ! wOOt wOOt

Day 2....
Casualties - a flat formed peice of fiberglass..
headaches - 1 but it was Alcohol induced
fun factor - 6.3 ... stupid rain!

i hope you arent plannning on molding your hvac/radio/guage nezel piece thats gonna have the screen in it to the center console because that would be a pain and would probably cause problems

Re: And so it begins... (preperation for the 7.2"

Matt: LOL no that's not my plan. At first yes it will be moulded together. But just liek the center console has "gaps" where the peices fit together. So will this. B/c eventually it WILL have to be removed and trying to remove that would be a night mare. there will be 2 peices that meet and come together before the shifter. the sides will be screwed into the base of the center console as they wrap around.. and the center meeting place for the console/ Guage Bezel will be adhered tempetariliy.. Im actually thinking about using some strong velcro to keep the peices together.. simple and easy.. and most importantly Removable! LOL

Day 3 (4/24 Sunday, 9am)...
Again with the rain.. hope it stops so I can get to work on something today LOL Stupid stupid stupid.

So is all this going to be one piece or two?

it'll be (2) seperated peices Zach. The Moniter MOulded to the Dash bezel which may or may not overlap the center console and be screwed down. And then the console itself. It just depends what looks better. But it will be 2 seperate peices.

It was what was within my budget to get and it seems like a well built moniter, not sloppily or cheaply put together. A for functuiality I dunno.. i've nto had it fired up yet. might try to do tha ttoday when im waiting on fiberglass to dry lol You don't always have to buy the top name brand stuff... you just have to take care of things the same no matter what brand or type of thing it is in which i do. So im not concerned about it. But i've never had anything from Pyramid, so i'll find out how well their made for functuiality soon when it's installed. If it's not that great and i have problems, i'll just get a differnt type. But untill then i have no reason to doubt this moniter, haven't heard anything personally horrible about them and have never owned anything from them. So we'll see.

one word of advice is fire it up and see how the picture is, depending on the angle u may find it hard to see the picture, it would suck to get the entire fiberglass job done only to have a lcd screen that is at the wrong angle and impoosible to view.

ahead of you there ! lol I hooked it up today to see if it works. WORKS GREAT, great picture & color and tons od picture controls that help the problem w/ the angles. I played with it, watched 1/4 of the punisher.. and played a few games on it w/ my ps2. LOL Messed w/ the angles and what not. So before i go about doing that imma hook up up in the car to a power source and do just that. for mounting. I was alreayd ahead of you! my cars down right now so im not in any hurry lol hahah

As I mentioned while my Z's out of commision till the new motor is dropped in.. I've got some projects going on! I shortened the Shifter bar about 1 1/2" (not shown in pics), I got my steering wheel done w/ the nitrous & purge buttons and painted the center spokes of it. Nitrous switch panel where my vent use to be, Moved the HVAc up under the sterio so I can install my 7.2" widescreen Moniter in my Cavy Very Happy. Installing Nitrous, making a false floor & a compartment for the bottle to mount in the center of the back seat (not done yet). But enough talk.. enjoy some pictures.. There are more pics on my Cardomain page 4. Very Happy yes.. my cars' a mess Inno.. lol it just sits.. in the driveway.
Well here ya go for your viewing enjoyment. I didnt get to work on or finish my peice, stuff came up this weekend. But here's pics of whut i have so far.. the first set are pics b4 I actually got the peice glassed to the Bezel.. then a pic of it glassed to it. Yeha it looks crude. but that's whut it looks like b4 it's refined & finished. LOL hahah
