Alright guys, I pretty much got my dash set with cf, not sure where im gonna go from there but ill figure it out, but i need some ideas for door panels, dont really want to go too far out like fiberglassing, not that its too far out for every application, but for what i want it is, im ordering cf inserts for behind the door handle in that little pocket, and i was thinking maybe talking to ben about cf inserts for the pockets in the door? or maybe getting some brushed aluminum inserts or diamond plate or something for those. Not too sure. Could anyone possibly post some pics of their modified door panels just so i can get an idea of what my options are and what clashes to gether and what doesnt? Thanks
I like it, not too much still has that "clean" look to it. BTW not to get off topic on my own post but i love the look of your car. Anyone else for door panel ideas?
I'll have pics in like 12 years when I finish sanding lol.
But basically.. I took my cloth armrest piece off, and the black carpet from behind the pockets.
The armrest will be dyed black, and still be cloth.
Behind the pockets, I will be using Diamond plate aluminum painted satin black (same with the rest of the interior.
I'm sure the pics will look better than how it sounds....
But that's what I'm going with now.

I like that idea of diamond plate in the pockets of the doors, i think i saw that for a group purchase last year. Do you think that would go good with Cf in my interior?
I actually saw someone else had it done with blue anodized diamond plate.. it looked damn good.
And now that you mention CF... would you be able to lay CF over the diamond plate and see the design through the CF?
Just an idea....
But in my opinion, if you were going with a CF interior, I would personally paint the diamond plate to match the CF... That is of course, if you didn't cover it.
But if you sand oyur door panels, be prepared for a bit of work. I've worked on my panels about 3 days total so far (approx 8 hours per day) and don't have one finished yet.
But then again.. I take alot of smoke breaks too....

Eazy, how'd you diamond plate the panel near the door lock and handle??
If I remember right, it's curved........

ya, just cut to fit around the lock part when you take off the door panel, and they slide right on. heres an example of what im trying to say. look at the one in this pic, and you'll see what i mean

Will they stay in place by themselves, or should I use some double sided foam tape?(the kind used for body moldings)

well, when i did mine, for the first one, i used liquid nails to hold it. then i realized that nothing is even needed to hold em in, so the 2nd one is just slipped on there, and the door panel holds them perfect.

It's your ultimate solution.

ha, I wish i was that good enough to be able to do that, if i ever wanted to do it id be sending it out to ben or titus.
custom made inserts by ogden top and trim one of the best interior guys in the chicago land area
can i haz bondo
thats kinda neat i like that
This is an older pic of what I did to mine:
The mesh matches the grill mesh in the front of the car - I also did the vents in this. I'm planning to dye the upper carpet to black pretty soon.
I've changed that silver door insert to my CF version since then. I'm going to leave my dash and doors stock Graphite - I'm just not a painter, and I've seen some painted interiors that look GREAT in pics or from far away but have tons of flaws up close.
