Hey guys I have fiberglassed on the radio bezel and it looks great but for the top part of the dash, do I have to pull that material off or can i just fiberglass over it???
You will have to pull that vynil... Have fun, I know I did... lol
hey where can I get a larger amount of resin besides home depots little bottles that come with the fiberglass kits??
OH do I have to take the material off of the rear deck lid too??? It seems like if I just put resin on it, it would work pretty good. Anyone know??
the rear speaker deck you can just resin. You'll probably use around 4 coats until it is all absorbed. Then if you want to mold stuff onto it you will have to use resin and matting. For your dash, use a grinder to grind the material off, it works alot faster. I will have new pictures of my new interior and deck as soon as possible. For fiberglass pictures, etc go to my website at www.goldz24.tk. Then go to pictures, then project pictures.
As for purchasing resin, you can buy gallon jugs of resin at advance auto parts or any paint supply(body shop materials) store. You can also buy large quantities of it at www.uscomposites.com

Any ideas for speaker grills on the rear deck once its been glassed?
I prefer something stealthy, I don't want, or need it to stand out.
There are crack houses where I live. I will not comment any further.
I know it's JUST a Cavalier, and I'm sorry if I hurt your ego.
Primer surface the interior panels, blocking inbetween.. 3-4 coats it should be fine..
Thanks for the info guys. I thought that you could leave the stuff on the back. When taking the matting off of the front dash piece what did you use?? Did you sand it or just cut it and try and peel it off?
yeah I started glassing the deck lid last night and peeled the stuff off of the dash. YOu were right it just peels off
you can keep the vinyl on the dash... i glassed my arm rest with the vinyl on it and i also glassed a shift knob. My arm rest is already apinted, but the shift knob is in glass still .l can post pics of both if you would like....
yeah if you had pics that would be great
Hey guys this might be a retarded question but whats blocking??? Winks said something about blocking between layers.

block sanding....involves a sanding block(piece of wood or a rubber block) with sandpaper wrapped around it.
Instead of blocking, I can't use an electric sander???
what im saying is you dont need to sand after every layer of fiberglass, just add all your layers at the same time.
u can use the electric sander to get the high parts down but once it comes to smoothing it out your going to have to do it by hand, dont try and sand the fiberglass smooth, just get all the high spots nocked down, then spread a good filler on top and sand that down.
