New Custom Switch Panel PICS

Once I got all of my underbody neon kits, I needed at least 2 more switches, so I scrapped my old box and came up with this:

The outer layer is carbon fiber - I plan to make it one big piece instead of 2 (I had to use what little CF I had lying around in the shop) I'm also going to get rid of that wire tie and replace it with bolts/nuts. There are 2 holes in the bracket behind it that works out great to mount it. Switch panel is constructed from 1/8" black PVC with .80" holes cut out for switches. I used a nickel to trace from with my Exacto and it worked perfectly.

Another angle:

It's very much out of the way - you can just barely see the blue LEDS from the driver seat, and they help illuminate that area at night. These round rocker switches are a great buy at 4 bucks each - here is a link to them if you want them:

They are available with Blue and Red LEDS. There are similar switches on eBay with other colors but they were like 9 bucks each...

Anyway, I'm happy with the way this project ended up - I have another one planned for the Passenger Side. I am sure I'll need the switches when I get the cash for the other LEDs I have planned! Please don't make fun of my fake CF pedals - I am trashing them as soon as I find something else I like, or maybe going back to stock...

Its not bad, looks kinda big though and in the way of your leg. Other then that zip tie I think its nice.

I need to take some better pics from a different angle. It's actually very low profile but these pics make it look huge and in the way.

Actual size is about 6 inches long by 3 tall, and only about an inch or so is exposed. You can just barely see the lights peeking out from the driver's seat.

Its a work in progress - I'll take more pics when its done.

Sweet, but imo i think its gonna be a pain to keep reaching down there to hit a few switches.

I plan on moving my 7 switches from under the radio bezel to the space between the 2 sun visors .

It's not that bad to reach down tere - I only have to do it once when I go to shows, then turn it all off before I hit the road. I'm installing a radar detector where my sunroof switch is and moving that switch down on the console somewhere. The radar detector will be mounted on a hinged door that can be quickly popped back up into place, maybe with a dummy sunroof switch attached...
If not for that project, I agree that's a good area for a switch panel, just like an airplane.

Steve - did you wire those LED indicators in a series? Did that work out well?

Cool, looks good. I've always had my swithes in that area and it's not a pain at all. nice!

Hi Raptor,

Naw I left 'em parallel for now - I kinda like the glow at night.

I'll probably use your advice on how to run them as a series when I pop a couple of switches into my doors - don't want light everywhere, all the time!

Thanks,

Steve
