I currently have the charcol grey carpet in my 95 Cav. Its stained from the few winters that it was driven and has faded over time due to possible wear and cleaning.
Lets say I took the carpet out. My question is this, Could I go buy some of that material dye in a box, mix it up and put it in a garden sprayer and apply it that way? Just spray it evenly all over the carpet? Would this work? Has anyone tried it?
Also, if it did work will it cover the faded spots? Or will they remain faded?
Basically, I am looking for a cost effective alternative to purchasing new carpet.
Any help on this topic is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
You can buy it in the can, which will run about $6-$8 per can... regular spray can size.
I was thinking of doing this myself, but for about $100 you can have a REAL brand new carpet.
If you're investing the time to take out your seats, console etc.... why not replace with something perfect, than to just spray over uglyness?
Think of it this way...
If you were gonna date a girl, would you choose a nice, pretty girl, or a repulsively ugly one, with tons of concrete errr I mean makeup?
I know it's JUST a Cavalier, and I'm sorry if I hurt your ego.
Oh and as far as cost to dye it.. I haven't done it myself, but I'd GUESS about $50-$60 in spray dye.
I'm not sure if the cloth dye would work.. carpeting is man made fiber... nylon or polyester or something.
