yeah, i just got pulled over for my tinted windows. im not even gonna complain about it, because i knew it was illegal, & that was the risk i took getting it done...
so i gotta get it off before i get pulled over again, so how much should i expect to pay to get it taken off??
atleast $100, tint is real hard to remove.

I worked at a tint shop for over a year and here's how we did it.
1. Using 2 ppl have one person heat up the outside of the window ery hot with a heat gun. At the same time have the person inside peeling off the tint that has been heated up. This loosens the glue. It is not absolutly necessary but makes it SOO much easier when the tint is really old and wants to come off in tiny tiny peices.
2. Once you have all the tint removed and there is a bunch of glue stuck all over the window use ammonia to loosen the glue. get a spray bottle and fill it with ammonia, straight or diluted a bit, it's your choice. It's strong so be carefull the fumes can put a hurt on you when your inside a car. Let the ammonia sit on the glue for a couple minutes then spray it down again. Teh more you spray the more it dissolves before step 3.
3. get extra fine #000 steel wool . It wil not scratch the glass as long as it is the finest stuff you can get. Or if you can get some scouring pads they will work too. But the steel wool works best. Rub the ammonia soaked glue until it comes off. It will not take too much effort but it won't just wipe off.
4. after all the glue is off just clean up the window with paper towel or how ever you clean glass and your done.
BUT be aware that there is a chance that the defrost lines may be destroyed by just peeling the tint off of them. The lines just stick to the tint and come off with the tint. There will still be lines on the window but they won't work anymore. It only happens on older cars. Doesn't happen all the time but there is a possiblity. The steel wool and ammonia will have no effect on the defrost lines though
thanks for the tips, i actually just got done taking it off myself. i guess i was lucky, because it all peeled of real easily, & i just soaked the glass with windex & scraped the glue off with a razor blade.
i hate pennsylvania...im gonna miss my tint.
i have had no probs with mine and i live in pa...what % do you have?
tint is really easy to take off. just put a mark in the tint to cut it, then use like a plastic scraper and take it off. no need to pay anyone
I getting ready to teint my back windows as low as I can go... 0-5% and my driver and passanger 25%.... This will look real nice and I think its legal... maybe you should try the same
i also jsut had to remove my tint, its real easy to remove take a razor blade and scrape it until you get a little piece up, and then it just peels off in sheets, then to get the glue residue off the window, take glass cleaner with ammonia and spray it on the window while using the razor blade to scrape it off

i had 20% on everything but the windshield. the cop told me they are starting to "crack down" on it, because too many people arn't following the 70% law. i remember somebody else from pa on here talking about new tint laws, but i was hoping it wasnt true...guess it is.
use laquer thinner to remove the glue. Try 3m adhesive remover ( which also works awsome when shaving the badges off).
i live in NY. we have real strict laws on window tinting. but there is one shop that is near my house that will tint your windows however you want, and as dark as you want. then when you get pulled over, they will write you a receipt saying that they removed it. show the receipt to the court clerk... and bam... u are out of your ticket. gotta love NY.
damn thats cool, when i got my ticket i actually had to bring it to the DMV and have my windows inspected after having removed the tint
100.00? lol wut the hell it costs 100.00 here to get ur windows tinted they mite charge like 20.00 or do it urself.. just find a kool cop.. or tell them ur car is in the shop and that u fixed it..lol someone to write it off ive had limo tint in southern ca.. been pulled over like 3 times for it.. twice my windows wee completly down and the cop rolled them up to check for tint.. but ive always gotton out of it somehow
is the cop allowed to roll them up to check for tint? i thought they would have to get a warran for it becuase its kinda like "searching your vehicle" i know a cop is not allowed to go into ur truck without a warrant or very probable cause
yes to my understanding they can basically do wut the @!#$ they want.. maybe thats why im such an ass to them.. lol rev my engine if i see them pulling someone else over ect.. things i know i wont gett caught doing..lol theyve rolled my windows up twice and did a "vehicle inspection"... popped my hood was too blind to see the intake i guess.. but wrote me for window tint, neon under glow, not loud enough horn?..lol and exhaust i think he just wanted to fill the ticket up.. anyway i got it signed off because i went to the police station after n told them how much of a dick he was to me..

so what happens when you get pulled over a 2nd time, then a 3rd time, and so on? i was pulled over 4 times for tint and got 2 tickets before i removed it, and the court remembered who i was after 1 visit.

No offense, but you really should have read the law before you took you're tint off, it was probably legal though a bit dark. That is unless the law (not "Table X", or PennDOT regulations) has changed recently. What law were you cited under?
Read
http://berksweb.com/users/dmv/tint/ it should answer all PA tint questions.
What about limos? I mean they have everything tinted black/mirrored except for the windshield/drivers window. If I had the cash, i could buy a limo, and as long as I stick in a certain # of people/weight limit, I don't need any different licensing, if i'm not operating it commercially...so how is that different from the average car?
Anthony buchanan: would that go for getting rid of air bubbles in the tint?
