didnt mean like transparent i made a design and stenciled it on all i wanna see light from is where i had stenciled, painted the rest black is one coat sufficiant or should i do a few?
which would be better to paint it with stained glass paint or get a bulb to go in it?
I would put two coats of black at least, and then put 2 or 3 coats of paint and the same for clear.
Fusion: its all about your preference on that one, stained glass paint would make it glow that color when its on, and then also look that color when its off. Changin the bulb would make it look stock and clear when the light is off, and then it would glow what ever color bulb you have in it when its on.
if im not mistaken the dome takes 906 bulbs which i cannot find ANYWHERE in differant colors
Goto Autozone they have them in almost every color i got red ones, u can get a pair for about $1.88
i can also not find stained glass paint (for my hvac knobs) or spray on tint (another custom job i wnt to do)
Just use normal spray paint.
I don't have any pictures, but that's what I did, and it glows nicely.
Light coats.

Yeah, I used 2 coats of black, so there would be a little hazy, 'aura-type' outline around the masked areas. If you want it completely opaque, I'd say a coat of primer, two or three coats of black, then another coat of primer, then 2 or 3 coats of your color. It'd be pretty cool to backmask it and use the spray tint on the areas that aren't painted, too.
well, my $0.02

Just use black primer, and save yourself a lot of time, three coats will be fine. I made a post about this a long time ago, i was one of the first to do this and post pictures and a how-to of it. I will search for it and see if i can find it for you.
