Ive been glassing alot lately so now im going to attempt to do a trunk enclosure, ill be glassing the whole trunk, so what i was wondering was if i should use the carpet in there for fabric, seeing as it already has the shape, or if i should just tape up areas and do it that way, i was just going to cut the carpet in three and have three pieces, or should i tape it off and do each section like that>?
I don't know much about fiber glassing...but i was curious as to how you do it and what the big deal is about it.....if you have any links to cites....i'de like to look into it for my cavi...or if you have any advice for me....thanks.
eh....well....gotta find it somewhere
search button, youll find TONS
I read your sentance 3 times and I don't understand what you are trying to do.
if you want to make a mold of the carpet in the trunk, line it with tinfoil and masking/duct tape, then glass ontop of that, it will pop right off.
If you're making a new shape, use fleece for your cloth.
Sorry, late night post, i wasnt very coherent. Ok. So i want to fiberglass the two sides of the trunk for subs. So there is a sub on either side in that "corner pocket " in the back of the trunk. So i was wondering how i can tape that all off, without having to worry about the crevaces in the sides, as well as the wiring for tail lights, and the arms of the trunk... I was thinking if i use the carpet, which already has a the shape of the corner, rather than trying to tape off the corner of the trunk, which has all those spaces and etc, the project would be easier for me. Will this work, or is there an easy way to tape off that section that im not seeing?
you would be better off just taping it all off. That way its all removable. Here's a tutorial on how to do exactly what your looking for.

ive read that whole site before, he IS using the carpet inside the trunk, i was asking if it was easier, or possible to do it without the carpet, just taping the bare metal (bare dynamat in my case). And making a mold of that

If you just want to fiberglass a small box in each side of your trunk, then do it with the carpet in. If not, then the box will not fit as snuggly and there will be a gap when you put the carpet back in. If you are fiberlgassing the entire trunk, then its all about prefference. Personally, i would do it with the carpet, to protect the fiberglass a little bit from condesation, moisture, and everthing else.
95CaviRider beat me to it i have the site he refereed you to saved in my fav. and
95CaviRider is also right if you di it without the carpet in it wont fit as good.
